Nativity Academy Board Announces New Executive Director

Meghan Weyland

Nativity Academy at St. Boniface’s Board of Directors is overjoyed to announce Meghan Weyland as their new Executive Director. In what the Nativity community considers a homecoming of sorts, Meghan returns to serve in this leadership position after being a teacher and then principal at Nativity from 2008 through 2015 as well as a board member the previous 2 years.

“I believe an excellent Catholic education should be available to all families, no matter their financial means. In fact, the research shows time and again that the benefits of a Catholic education are exponentially realized by kids from families who may not be able to pay typical tuition costs. God has showed me time again that serving at Nativity, where this belief is a living reality, is my professional vocation. I feel privileged and joyful to be returning home as Nativity’s Executive Director.”

Meghan is originally from Hastings, Minnesota and has resided in Louisville since 2008. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education, and Master of Arts in Educational Administration, all from the University of Notre Dame and its Alliance for Catholic Education. She and her husband Kent have 4 children, and are proud parishioners and school parents at St. Francis of Assisi in The Highlands.

Nativity Academy Board Announces Principal

Andrea Peavler

Nativity Academy at St. Boniface’s Board of Directors is excited to announce Andrea Peavler as the new Principal. Andrea has been in the Archdiocese of Louisville schools for 19 years. In her previous school, Mercy Academy, she was fortunate to teach and work with Nativity graduates as a teacher and Assistant Principal, and was always impressed with how prepared, respectful, and hard-working the students were.

"I started at Nativity this school year as an Instructional Coach, and was then asked to be the interim Principal at the end of November. I have enjoyed every moment of being in this school. The faculty and staff are some of the best I have ever come across in my 19 years of education. Our Board, committees, sponsors, community partnerships, and families are devoted and committed to the mission of Nativity; their support is endless for our family-like community that resides here.I am humbled and extremely honored to have been selected to be the Principal, as I feel this is already my home!”

Andrea is from Louisville, Kentucky and comes from a strong Catholic faith-based family. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Master of Education, and Masters of Arts in Educational Administration, all from Bellarmine University. She and her husband Brad have 3 children (all who attend Catholic schools) and are members of Our Lady of Lourdes in St. Matthews.

Nativity Academy at St. Boniface is an independent, Catholic middle school that provides a foundation for a life without limits. 2024 marks the 21st year for the mission driven school where students attend tuition free.

At Nativity Academy, we are providing more than a school classroom. We invest in our students, graduates, and their families via an extended academic model that yielded a 100% graduation rate from high school in 2022. This is 40% higher than the national average for the same population.

Nativity Academy students:

  • attend traditional educational classes during the school day,
  • participate in after-school Extended Enrichment, and
  • benefit from our Graduate Support Program after graduating from 8th grade.

We encourage you to see firsthand “The Academy Way” at Nativity Academy at St. Boniface - a school where our students strive, overcome, achieve, and respect themselves and others.   Please take a tour and see how Nativity Academy supports and promotes students’ growth as persons of faith with strong moral principles.

The residual impact of a well-educated child cannot be measured by a score or percentage as the impact of education extends far beyond the student and into the Louisville community for years to come. Nativity Academy depends on private donations, grants, and volunteers to cover the cost of tuition that provides students with a highly individualized education.

Since our students attend tuition free, our ability to provide this opportunity to children is solely dependent upon the continuing support of individuals, businesses, and philanthropic entities within our community. We ask for your continued support, and if you are not a current supporter, we hope you will become a part of the Nativity Academy family.

Together we educate children and change the  world.
Together we SOAR (Strive, Overcome, Achieve, Respect)!

The Academy Way

We are proud of our students. Our school is committed to academic excellence. Teachers are charged with engaging students in a way that makes learning interactive and fun. We believe that providing rigorous instruction will prepare our students for the next steps in their educational careers.

A unique and important aspect of the Nativity Academy experience is the House program which provides the opportunity for students to build leadership skills.  This is accomplished by them assuming specific leadership positions within their respective house, by serving as mentors for our younger student, and by developing strong interpersonal relationships.  We believe this aspect of Nativity Academy builds faith and friendship that impacts our students lives far into the future.

Everyone who is part of the Nativity Academy team  makes our school such a special place.

The Academy Way is not just something we talk about; it is something we practice daily.

Together we SOAR!  Go Eagles!
